Data Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. It is IACH policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website, and any other sites we own and operate in line with General Data Protection laws in the UK.
We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we are collecting it and how it will be used.
We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your membership service. What data we store, we will protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.
As an unincorporated not for profit association, where two or more people come together for a particular purpose, we do not have a formal company structure. All our members and elected committee are responsible for taking care of the personal information that we keep. Each member as well as the elected Committee, is responsible for reading and understanding the leaflet "Information for IACH Members regarding Data Privacy", to help us all protect any data that appears in the members shared areas. It is sent to new members and can be downloaded here.
We do not share any personally identifying information publicly or with third-parties, except when required to by law. We maintain historic sailing achievement registers which may include name, vessel, date, event, even if you become inactive and/or on non-payment of the annual subscription or if you withdraw as a member. We will not single out your achievement without obtaining your support, which means we ask that you keep your contact information up to date via the website or through the membership secretary at [email protected].
You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired member services. You are also free to request removal of your achievement records from any future sailing registers.
Your continued use of the IACH website, and ongoing membership will be regarded as acceptance of our practices around privacy and personal information. If you have any questions about how we handle data and personal information or wish to remove your own personal achievement from future sailing achievement registers, please contact us.
This policy statement is effective as of January 2021.
